Post no. 811

Its always nice to hear nice comments from strangers on your photos... But of course, they were viewing it through a 3 inch monitor on my camera.. Nothing can be future from the turth.

Photobucket

Anyway, Someone must have thought that i have been a good boy and decided to reward me with a CLUB Suite Pass. Waaaooot..... all those burnt weekends and late nites, someone was keeping track of my good deeds.

Photobucket

The winner of this year's constructors title. No doubt about that. The only other team who seriously looks like challenging is McClaren at this moment... but...i doubt it. Miracles dont happen everyday.

Photobucket

I would have loved for Massa to be looking at me instead but...

Photobucket

You know how all the drivers have this droooopy eyes when looking at the camera. Hahaha...it must be bored in there... Too easy to drive a F1 car.

Photobucket

Heres one for the side glance. Their car didnt sound as if they are very powerful. Wussy..

Photobucket

The Red Bulls were the ones who kept themselves on the track all the time.. They were the first on track and were still going strong when everyone else was done for the nite. The rest of the folks were just coming out sporadically. Tsk tsk tsk...

Photobucket

Oh look... Ferrari's Future test driver. =p

So there goes another Singapore F1 Nite GP. If only Singapore accord more attention weekly to the races, perhaps then they wont have to give soo many free passes away to coporate clients during the actual GP itself.

I didnt buy those Club Suite tickets. Mine was a $38 cheap skate walkabout ticket. Joyce sister was invited to dinner at the suites... and i pick it up after she was done with dinner. Im not complaining though.. i just hope that every time they take me away from my family during each of this events, they acknowledge the sacrifices i put in for the country. Im sure the country does... not sure about my management though.

Post no. 810

After drifting in and out of point for thee last 2000 words, i wanted to end it all with a BANG...

But....F1 is waiting and i havent given much thought of where to park and where to camp for the rest of the day.. As such, here a meek attempt to end it all.....

Conclusion

The difference in opinions and disputes between Malaysia and Singapore are not uncommon between neighbouring states. Their acquisitions of technologically advance military hardwares are not an attempt to get ahead in an arms race but a reflection of their anxiety to stay ahead of the ever changing strategic environment. In addition, this essay also proved that the conditions defined for an arms race were not convincingly met by either country.

In contrast, both states have numerous outstanding bilateral agreements and working cooperation under the ambit of ASEAN and FPDA to ensure the regional stability and security of the region. The two countries are also inter-dependent on trade exchanges and share a common enemy in the form of Islamic extremism that has plague the region since Sept 2001.

In summary, the acquisition of military hardwares by Malaysia do not pose a security threat to Singapore and the efforts to modernized its armed forces is not indicative of an arms race between the two neighbours.

Grade A? Naaa.... more like C. But im living proof that you can write a 2500 words essay in 10 days.

"Singapore, for instance, has a Ministry of Defence headquarters complete with hardened underground operations control center at Bukit Gombak, which is linked through microwave and fiber-optic channels to an island-wide command, control, communications and intelligence network." - Cited in Desmond Ball, "Arms and Affluence: Military Acquisitions in the Asia-Pacific Region," International Security , vol.18, no.3 (Winter 1993/94), p.94.

Waoooo... i pity those folks working in there. Must be hell breathing the stale air, having no handphone reception and looking pale as zombies from the lack of sunlight.

What do they do inside there? Spying and listening to telephone conversations like what the CIA does in United States?

Tsk tsk tsk...

Im overwhelmed with work.

If you guys haven't noticed, its been a week since i update an entry. And speaking of which, im sitting in my office now...doing up this entry. Those claims of a long weekend stretching from Friday till Tuesday are nothing more than a myth.. REAL SOLDIERS work 24/7.

I wish i wasnt a real soldier.((*#&

Anyway, im very excited. After 4 days... im have finally finish my introduction for this essay that im writing.
WHy am i writing an essay? Its part of a pre-requisite to join Young PAP. Its about time i do something meaningful with my life... Anyway, i digress...

Here you go.. The topic is

" Is there a Arms Race between Singapore and Malaysia? Discuss. "
"Singapore’s decision to become an independent state in 1965 forced herself to be self-reliant in many areas. This is especially so in security and defense. It was clear from the onset that Singapore with an area of 693 sqm1 and no real military strategic depth that the defense of Singapore would require more than just brute military offensive to safeguard its sovereignty against any aggressor. The defense doctrines practiced such forward defense, pre-emptive strike and strategic weaponry acquisition had raised much concern among its neighbors in the past.

Singapore Defense budget has typically been pegged at 5-6% of its GDP2 with up to 5% of this defense budget allocated to R&D purposes3 and experimentation in operation concept and the rest being allocated to operating expenditures and procurement of new military hardwares. Singapore's rapid military development through the economic boom in 1990s has indirectly raised the concern of Singapore's closest neighbours, Malaysia in particular.

In the late 1990s, Malaysia also started to modernize its armed forces in anticipation of any threats from aggressors. This was an opinion shared by Jayasankaran (Call for Arms, Far Eastern Economic Review May 16, 2002). Malaysia started acquiring numerous weaponaries that are multi functional in nature to seek an edge over any security threats that it might faced as a nation. The purchase of the American FA-18, Russian MIG-29 and SU-30 aircraft along with Polish PT-91M tanks, French Scorpene attack submarines and the ASTROS II close range missile launcher all within a span of a few years created an air of uneasiness among the region.

Many authors have varying interpretation of the presence of such a concerted arms acquisation programe by both Malaysia and Singapore. While many saw this as part of a devloping nation's attempt to moderize its military powerness, some had thought it to be a destabilising arms race between the two neighbours who had previous issues with water, military training airspace, sovereignty of hosburg lighthouse and more recently the tussle of the chilli crab as a national dish.

This essay will attempt to defend against the notion that there is indeed a arms race and that the increase in defense budget and acquisation of military hardwares between the two countries are nothing more than attempts to keep up with the Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA). The essay will define and illustrate the characteristics of a arms race. It will also examine the regional strategic environment to establish the linkages between envionment and the military acquisation trend. Based on the established deination, the essay will prove that there is no arms race between Malaysia and Singapore."

Im about to get off work and im determined to pen down my 1st pointer this evening..

My Love will get you home - Christin Glass

If you wander off too far, my love will get you home.
If you follow the wrong star, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

If the bright lights blinds your eyes, my love will get you home.
If your troubles break your stride, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

If you ever feel ashamed, my love will get you home.
When there's only you to blame, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home,
Boy, my love will get you home.

Possibly the most unrated singer of all time.

Just the other day, i was out with some men for dinner.
The conversation lasted all nite and it eventually ended up at photography. One of them asked me "How did you become so good??"
I replied "oh...i bring my camera everywhere." and flashed my biggest and sweetest smile.

On the way home, i realised how shameless i was. Me good in photography?
