Post no. 332

F1 was in town this afternoon..

Well, they did test the nite lightings last evening.. and today seems like a good time to test the road and gather some interest. As such, McLAREN got Mika to do a couple of spins around Padang.

But....Mika didnt feel comfortable with a F1 car after his retirement 7 years ago..as such, he came in a more sedate car.

Photobucket

OMG..
Hmmm.... I think he lost it. He prefers to be driven around! =p

Photobucket

Okie, hes finding his footing finally... but still no F1 car. =(
I didnt come to see Mika drive around in a sedan!

Photobucket

Safety car for an event like this? Whats going to happen???

Photobucket

Omg...i cant breath.. here it comes.

Photobucket

And there it goes..
Truth be told.. the show lasted about 5 mins..

And what do i think of the 5 mins of excitment?

Photobucket

Oh well... i hope there would be more F1 actions in Sept... unlike this afternoon.

Dear all..

Im back from my photography class.

I just have 2 things to say to all my fellow classmate (whom obviously i do not know...but nevertheless)..

1) Why did you guys buy a D80 and still attend a photography class like this?

2) I'll be ready to buy over your D80 if you happen to lose interest in photography over the next couple of months.

hahahaha...

Regards
Opportunitist. =p

Long before Hamilton and Alonso had legs long enough to reach the pedals of their F1 car... there was Mika Hakkinen.

He was the one time nemeis of Schummi. In fact, during my first season of F1 way back in the late 90s, he was the F1 champ and ferrari was struggling.

He was a proud man and he is most prob more well-respected and more feared than current world champ, the other flying fin Raikkonen.

Hmm...Finland looks like a factory producing F1 champs (90s - Mika and now, Rakki). Either that or their country lacks the highly efficient traffic police that my country has. Hahaha... but then again, my country's best racing product comes in the form of Denis Lian.. soo.. i think i better keep quiet before i get laughed at.

Anyway... this sunday, here in Singapore... We have the lengendary...

I hope i get my 55-200 in time so that i can get up close and personal.

There never seems to be a bad time to invest..
As such, u can see why im so rich and i cant finish the money residing in my bank.

Apparently, the above 2 individuals believes that investing the money in CPF can be a more rewarding experience than just leaving it in CPF to attract the ~4% interest.
Judging from the table above, it seems that over a 10 year period (nevermind the uncertainty and dynamic marco environment), investing your money can make you a substainal amount more than what CPF can offer you which begets the qns if my dearest govt is shortchanging me by offering me such low interest rates.

I have a not verysmart friend who invested in these funds about 5 years back.. He invested when the economic cycle was on its way up. 5 years of boom and all he got was a 10% return. Thats plain lousy because leaving it in CPF would have garner about the same returns without paying these so called finacial advisors.

In retrospect, Is it better to leave the money in the fund (keeping in mind the views of the above 2 experts) or withdraw it and allow it to accumulate interest in the CPF account now?

Sigh..
Theres never a good time to invest..

Investor.

Post no. 326

Hi all...
Over the weekend, i had my favourite prata for breakfast.
The prices of prata has risen considerably over the years. YEars ago, a egg prata would cost about 80cents. Nowadays, its $1.40! No thanks to inflation or so they say..

Nevermind the increase in price.. what i really hate are lousy pratas.

Im sure most of us have been victums of cold fried flour which some shops pass off as prata?
Yuck..

I have found out over the years that the secret to a good prata lies in the flipping and flopping of the flour. Essentially, you have to do it enough times to get enough crisppiness after cooking it.

As such... I would like to share this promising upcoming prata maker with everyone. Good things are meant to be shared....

Flip...flip flip...

Flop flop flop....
Tell me when you are ready to make up your mind.

Prata Lover.

More shots from my current squeeze...
Its still not fantastic. Word on the forums is that i need photoshop. =p

Photobucket

Noisey eh? Too long exposure time? =(

Photobucket

Photobucket

Frankly, i was alittle spooked out taking the above shot. I swore i heard someone walking among the bushes behind me. As such, i actually kept my car engine running just in case i need to fend off Mas selamat monkeys that sneak up on me for cheap thrills...

Nevertheless, having good equipment is one thing will give u good technical shots. I.e, nice sharpness, exposure.. (im obviously struggling even with an SLR..)

Photobucket

Check this out... this is what i call a technical shot. Good equipment with a little practice would enable you to take shots like this all day long...

Photobucket
Adopted from CS, Jolantru

This is something that comes once in awhile while you happen to walk on the right street, look in the right direction and carry that very heavy SLRright equipments...

Oh well..like i say, i need more time.... and a camera bag. *hint hint hint, my birthday is in a couple of month's time.*

Photobucket

Not the camera... pls. Im a nikon supporter. =)

SINGAPORE : Motorists headed to Malaysia on Friday had a slight respite from the traffic jams at the checkpoints resulting from the hunt for Jemaah Islamiyah fugitive Mas Selamat Kastari. "

Did they add a ERP gantry at the checkpoint??
If not, why not? Gantries will ease traffic jams.. or so they think.

Post no. 322

Dear all...

I haven been exactly blogging nowadays because im so busy.

Well, maybe not. Just that at work, i have things on hand that needs to be clear. And at home, i need to entertain my camera?
Hahah...

I've finally gotten myself a chance to get transferred out of my dept to somewhere else. Its not exactly a dream transfer but i'll take anything that comes along. Im a little tired of my batch of selfish colleagues current workplace and it seems like a good time to leave for greener pastures and seek new challenges.

Maybe i'll find more time to read in the future? Hahaha... im so looking forward to that.

Onto my current squeeze...

The Nikon D40 does take mighty good pics limited by my lousy imagination. In fact, i went out late last nite after watching TV to try to get some experience on shooting at nite. Heres something that i got last evening. I figured its one of the better ones.

Photobucket

Can someone tell me whats wrong with this shot...

1) My focus was obviously wrong. I have no idea what i was thinking but it kinda ended up on the tree to the right. Technically, it would have been fantastic if i have made the tree trunk my subject but in this case, i was trying to cut the tractor out to be a lonely figure... sigh.

2) The framing of the shot is obviously wrong also. Darn, check out the bright lights behind. I need to go ask the crane uncle to turn off his lights.

I definately need photography lessons.. Sigh..
Didnt knew its going to be so difficult. =(

Post no. 321

Okie, i've done it again.

Smart ass me was reluctant to buy a dry cabinet after getting my camera. In fact, many a photographer likes to keep their equipments in dry cabinets or dry box to prevent fungi growth. In fact, the difference between the 2 is that dry cabinets comes with a attached dehumifier while with a dry box, you would need to put silica gels to absorbed the mositure.

After weighing the pros and cons, which incidentally is related to the cost of both boxes (~$100), i decided to improvise.

I brought myself a large TOYO box from a downtown, upmarket supermarket (~better quality boxes!?!?!) and some Imitation Thirsty Hippo aka Thirsty Camel. Total setup cost was a grand total of $7.85.

Photobucket

Cool huh? Thirsty Camel even comes with the same pinky cover like Thirsty Hippo.
All is fine and i thought i've found a way to keep my equipment from dust and moisture until... i brought myself a Hygro-thermometer....

Recommended humidity in a dry box is slated to be at 40-55%.
My Camel is so thirsty that humidity in the box is at 37%.

Photobucket

Sigh...sometimes, im too smart for my own good. Does anyone know where to get camera moisturiser?
Why is my camel so thirsty?

Camel Rearer.

If you aint going to let kids watch wrestling..why give them swords? =p

Photobucket

Omg...not another one. If i were him, i would have asked for a dirty bomb or a missile. Why settle for a sword?

Photobucket

Omg...look at the eyes..

Photobucket

He've got a plane...and he isnt happy?!?!? =(

Photobucket

Good things come to those who wait..

Photobucket

I think hes waiting to grow up..

Photobucket

Papa 'Big eyes'.. Incredible big eyes, really.

Photobucket

Omg...Kids are just so cute.

Photobucket

I swear i was cuter than him when i was younger. hahaha...

However, when i talked to my boss on friday evening... he told me to think carefully. Frankly, i've no idea why he said so.. Hahah...

On a side note, using a SLR isnt as simple as i thought...Darn. I do have lots to learn. =(

I need a baby to cuddle..

i wanted to see the diff between a PnS and a SLR.

Photobucket

These were taken with a tripod with different exposures.
Exposures are like your attitude. The lamp is akin to situations we faced everyday.

The end state is usually a function of how we view the situation with our attitude.

I've lots to learn. And i really love my camera.
