Despite being old enough to have kids call me UNCLE, im still able to keep myself at the forefront of the latest fashion.

Errmm..
Im unsure where people go to club nowadays.
Im unsure if Pink is still the rage now..
Heck, im not even sure if anyone in the upper secondary are still sporting center parting..

But i know for sure that spotting overfilled trashbins is all the rage now..

"Worldwide insurance business expected to grow by threefold
By Timothy Ouyang, Channel NewsAsia
Posted: 08 April 2008 2121 hrs

SINGAPORE : The worldwide insurance business is expected to grow by more than threefold, boosted by growth from wealthy clients in Asia, according to Switzerland's largest life insurer Swiss Life. "

Only one place in the world where insurers lose money (car insurance). Losing 100 million isnt a joke. The joke is on the insurers..

"Singapore News
New ERP gantries catch some motorists by surprise

By Asha Popatlal, Channel NewsAsia
Posted: 07 April 2008 2204 hrs

SINGAPORE: Some motorists were not aware that five new Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) gantries were activated on Monday.
.
.
.
.
In a statement issued on Monday evening, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said traffic volumes went down at the five gantry locations on the first day of operation. This led to an 8-25 per cent increase in travelling speeds on the affected roads. - CNA "

Overheard..
A few gantries along stretches of road leading to the country's central business distinct shows a remarkable enterprising spirit by the country's management to manage traffic flow and generate positive income.

Gantries erected all over the island however, simply shows a lack of considerable planning and poor judgement.

I hope the next election comes soon.

"F1 racing simulators more popular ahead of September Grand Prix
By Patwant Singh, Channel NewsAsia
Posted: 06 April 2008 1757 hrs

SINGAPORE: From kids to students to adults, many in Singapore are taking to the F1 racing simulator for an adrenaline rush of speed before the city-state hosts its inaugural Grand Prix in September. Entertainment establishments which have brought in the race simulators, such as Thumper, are drawing big crowds to their businesses. "

Yes, Singapore is getting into the mood. Its just a pity that only cable subscribers gets to watch F1 live on weekends. The rest of us who refuse to be con into getting cable TV will have to rely on newspapers and websites for updates.

Anyway, i came across the above article by CNA. Just a single thought came to my mind..

Are the patrons of thumbers allow to drive the simulators after drinking/clubbing??

Dear all,

What was suppose to be an eventful day for me turn out to be nothing more than another lazy weekend.

A Nap that lasted 4 hours in the afternoon resulted in me missing out on..
1) A trip to the barber to get my haircut
2) A trip to MSColors to get more accessories
2) A trip to the library to get more books on photography.
3) A jog to kickstart my yearly IPPT training.
4) Learning to use the god damned Photoshop.

On the bright side, theres a reason why i was so tired... I kinda woke up at 5 this morning to go jogging photoshooting at punggol beach.
Didnt exactly get fantastic photos but hey, i got to enjoy the morning breeze and sunrise.. It was nice. Really.

Oh well, heres like 1% of the shots i got this morning..

Photobucket

The sun actually does rise rather rapidly. In fact, i swear i thought i could see it move northwards.

Photobucket

Before you know it, its already gone into the clouds. Im not sure about the couple in front of me but i was sure a tab bit disappointed.

Photobucket

Things just got worse from then on.. The sun seems to be on the run. From me??

Photobucket

Without the sun, i decided to go walk around punggol beach. Apparently, theres a mudtrack which offers makeout opportunities. i be back next weekend night

Photobucket

Well, heres another way of looking at the sunrise.

Photobucket

With no sunrise to catch, might as well go back home and makeout and have breakfast. hahaha...

Oh well, as you can see, i didnt managed to get any decent shots... but its a good thing that the setting wasnt fantastic. It really gives me a good reason to post less than ideal shots. =p

Naaa...im just making excuses for myself. Theres something to learn from every shot...

Post no. 340

Dear all,

Im down with flu. Im so sick that i didnt even take my camera out of my 'self made' dry box to play with since i came home 2 hours ago.

I spent the afternoon attending a certain ceremony to recieve an award made possible by some of the previously mentioned selfish people at my workplace. Yes, as much as i hate to admit it, they had a hand in it. Oh yes, my friends had a hand in it too..

Big Boss just called. He demanded wanted me to bring the award back on monday as the award belongs to everyone in the office and that i shouldnt be selfish and keep it at home. =(

Okie, he didnt say that. He called and offered me his apologies for not turning up at the ceremony not that i noticed. Frankly, im touched.
My big boss is a scholar and i didnt exactly have a good impression of him prior to his arrival. You know how air-headed some scholars are.. but hes proving himself to be the exact opposite. Some time ago, every one in the workplace recieved a personally signatured letter from him to attend a particular event that he was organising.

Perhapes, its time the fido monarch takes a backseat. Give me a people centric boss anyday.

Pity that im giving all this up for flexible working hours.. hee hee... hee...

Worker.

Post no. 336

Some time ago, i went to Batam.
Before u get carried away and think that i was there for some hanky panky.. Nope! I wasnt. Im a goody 2 shoe...

I went there in my desperate attempt to brush up my Malay for the upcoming test.
I obviously came back none the wiser but i did get some really cheap bargains there.

Nevertheless, the trip got off to a good start.
I was able to buy condom from the toilet in Harbour front.

Photobucket

This is for those of you who are too shy to buy it over the counters in 7-11.
Max, its on the 2nd floor toilet..

The ride by boat took about an hour and it was fairly uneventful. In fact, the trip was relatively uneventful.

However,
I did visit the supermarket and found that you can actually buy 'fresh' frozen food.. hahah...

Photobucket

TADA! Straight from the freezer! You only buy what you need.

Photobucket

In fact, there no such thing as extra large packet of fries at a discount price. All things there are sold on a 'Buy as required' basis.

Dont believe me?

Photobucket

Heres more... 'Fresh' frozen food! Dont buy more! Buy as required!

Photobucket

Check out the eggs! Buy as required!

Photobucket

Lux Soap! No packs of 5! Buy as required!

I obviously didnt buy any of those. I did brought toothbrush. They sold a particular brand of tooth brush at 3 for $2!!!! Incredible. Last check in my friendly neighbourhood store who is holding off GST increases and hike in essential item, similar toothbrush was selling for $10.

Hee hee... I cant wait for my next trip to BATAM.

HAPPY APRIL FOOL's Day!!!

I hope i get through the day with no one pulling a fast one on me.

Hmmm.... Maybe Armstrong is just pulling a fast one on me. He cant be that petty!
Armstrong & I are best friends. =)

Friend of everyone!

Post no. 333

Sigh..

My friend is angry.

Photobucket

Apparently, we talked about joining photography lessons previously. And i went ahead without him. Hahaha... so he thinks that i flew aeroplane.

I didnt wanna hurt his feelings. All i wanted to do was be considerate.
WHY?

1) Because the course is for basics of DSLR camera.. and he has a Canon G9.
Granted that G9 is a fantastic camera but.... a SLR is a SLR.

Try getting a G9 to do this...
Photobucket

or this...
Photobucket

Easy??
Try doing that at a focal length of 300mm then...

Okie, i digress...im just showing off my camera. But in a class of 25. I have a dozen of D80s, a couple of D300, a couple of 350D and 400D.. where would a D40 stand? let alone a G9..

I dont know about you but if i do sign up for such course, i would wanna make sure i have a DSLR with me when i go for the numerous outdoor shoots that is included as part of the course...

Else..... i would believe that the results between a G9 and a D300 will be too contrasting during the critic session..

Maybe im just being self concious.. but im definately not sorry about joining the course myself.. hahaha..

Armstrong should really have brought a SLR...maybe we would have remained as friends??

Regards
Pilot...
