Post no. 321
Okie, i've done it again.
Smart ass me was reluctant to buy a dry cabinet after getting my camera. In fact, many a photographer likes to keep their equipments in dry cabinets or dry box to prevent fungi growth. In fact, the difference between the 2 is that dry cabinets comes with a attached dehumifier while with a dry box, you would need to put silica gels to absorbed the mositure.
After weighing thepros and cons, which incidentally is related to the cost of both boxes (~$100), i decided to improvise.
I brought myself a large TOYO box from a downtown, upmarket supermarket (~better quality boxes!?!?!) and some Imitation Thirsty Hippo aka Thirsty Camel. Total setup cost was a grand total of $7.85.
Cool huh? Thirsty Camel even comes with the same pinky cover like Thirsty Hippo.
All is fine and i thought i've found a way to keep my equipment from dust and moisture until... i brought myself a Hygro-thermometer....
Recommended humidity in a dry box is slated to be at 40-55%.
My Camel is so thirsty that humidity in the box is at 37%.
Sigh...sometimes, im too smart for my own good. Does anyone know where to get camera moisturiser?
Why is my camel so thirsty?
Regards
